Long term technology partnership / 10+ years.

The Project
At Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant, around 1,850 vehicles can be produced each day. Every vehicle needs to move from production into a large compound, be parked in the correct location and later moved again ready for carrier collection and onward shipment.
With three shifts and around forty drivers per shift, the operation involves a significant volume of vehicle movements and handovers. The process had historically relied on paper, creating pressure in an environment where speed, accuracy and visibility matter.

The Challenge
Moving away from a process that could no longer keep pace.
Paper-based records made it harder to maintain a real-time view of where vehicles were located and added manual administration to every movement. At the scale Jaguar Land Rover operates, even small delays or inaccuracies can quickly multiply.
The challenge was to digitise the workflow without adding complexity for the drivers using it throughout busy shifts.

Our Approach
Designing around the operation, not around the technology.
The solution needed to work within the reality of a fast-moving vehicle compound. We focused on making each interaction quick and practical for drivers while giving managers a much clearer view of activity across the site.
The platform was designed around the complete vehicle movement journey, from identifying a vehicle through to recommending and recording the most appropriate bay.

The Solution
A bespoke driver app connected to the wider compound operation.
We developed a bespoke application that digitises each stage of vehicle movement. Drivers scan a vehicle's VIN and the system can recommend an appropriate bay based on operational information such as destination port.
The platform understands bay availability and occupancy, records vehicle locations automatically and provides visibility of driver activity so work can be distributed more effectively.
Key features: VIN scanning; intelligent bay allocation; live bay availability; vehicle location records; driver activity visibility; mobile and web access

The Outcome
Real-time visibility across a high-volume operation.
The platform transformed a manual workflow into a digital process. Jaguar Land Rover gained greater visibility of vehicle movements, improved the accuracy of location records and reduced the administration required from drivers and managers.
Minutes saved across individual movements become significant when applied to around 1,850 vehicles each day, helping make compound operations smoother and more efficient.
